The three winners of the Libex 2020 satirical cartoon competition for freedom of expression were announced on 26 September at the Lectorinfabula festival in Conversano (Italy).

The first prize goes to Marilena Nardi, with a cartoon on the border between caricature and work of art.

Underground cartoonist and production designer Ron Cobb dies at 83

Ron Cobb, the underground cartoonist turned production designer who influenced the making of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and helped shape the worlds of Conan the Barbarian, Alien and Back to the Future, has died. He was 83.

Cobb died Monday — his birthday — of Lewy body dementia in Sydney, his wife of 48 years, Robin Love, reported.

The Tallahassee Democrat Apologizes for Published Cartoon

On Monday, the Tallahassee Democrat ran a syndicated editorial cartoon that was offensive to readers. It showed former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a way that some rightly said drew on stereotypes of Jewish people.

Jeff Koterba laid off from the Omaha World Herald


Editorial cartoonist Jeff Koterba announced on Facebook today that he was laid off trom the Omaha World Herald after 31 years of daily cartoons at his hometown newspaper.

The finalists of the Libex 2020 cartoon competition

The international jury of the Libex 2020 Prize for Freedom of Expression has chosen the ten finalists among the 55 cartoons that made the first selection. 

Organised by the Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Freedom of Expression (Libex) – Giuseppe Di Vagno Foundation, Cartooning for Peace and Voxeurop, the competition saw the participation of 118 cartoonists from 32 of the 47 member countries of the Council of Europe.

Pat has been the editorial cartoonist of The Salt Lake City Tribune for the last 40 years and is the past President of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists.

Sheriffs association demands apology for Bagley cartoon

The Utah Sheriffs Association has issued a stern rebuke of the Salt Lake Tribune and editorial cartoonist Pat Bagley in response to what it called a divisive and prejudicial cartoon.

In sharing the cartoon on his Facebook page, Bagley wrote that," White supremacists have made a point of infiltrating law enforcement. That's a fact. That's a problem."

Charlie Hebdo reprints cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad
