Winner of the 3rd International Libex 2021 Competition

Tom Janssen is the winner of the editorial cartoons International Competition: LIBEX2021 dedicated to “Cancel Culture and politically correctness"

Award-winning editorial cartoonist for the Dutch national newspaper Trouw and several regional newspapers, he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Amsterdam. 

His cartoons are distributed internationally by  the Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate, Cagle Cartoons, and Voxeurop.eu and published in numerous publications including: Courrier International, Le Monde and the Japan Times.

The 2021 Robert Russell Courage in Cartooning Award goes to Lagoon Eain and Waiyan Taunggyi, two exiled cartoonists who fled Myanmar after February’s military coup and who have recently found safe haven in the USA.

"Aislin's Favourite Covid Cartoons From Around the World"


Originally conceived as a collection of Aislin’s own cartoons on COVID-19, the scope of the book expanded once he saw what his colleagues world-wide were producing.

All the cartoonists - Pulitzer Prize winners and small-town artists alike - donated their work to help raise money for the people and institutions who cared for us during the pandemic.

Cartoonist Len Munnik has been drawing for Trouw for 45 years and all that time his work has been about war and peace, about justice and injustice. 

Campaigning makes sense, he says, even with pen, ink and paper. "I haven't gotten cynical."

At the invitation of the EUNIC network in Montreal, the European Union National Institutes for Culture and Cartooning for Peace proposes the second online conference, Press cartoons, free to laugh?

Conducted in English, it will take place online today, on the symbolic date of World Peace Day.
