Announcement from World Press Cartoon

When the World Press Cartoon 2022 exhibition in the city of Caldas de Rainha was coming to an end, in the last days of August, we received information from the mayor's office that it would no longer include support for our event in its annual plan of cultural activities.

«Without prejudice to the substantive value of the works of international scope that give rise to the competition and exhibition – which we recognize – a detailed analysis of the costs and benefits of carrying it out in Caldas da Rainha, in the light of the general panorama of city council investments in the area of culture, not left room for a decision other than its interruption.»

Pledge drive for Cartoonists Rights Network International

We rarely ask our followers to give, but over the coming holiday season we are running a pledge drive. Head to our donate page now and lend your support to our mission - help us defend cartoonists’ free expression.

Free Expression doesn’t come cheap. In fact, multiple cartoonists have lost their lives in their pursuit of that right. Others have been assaulted and abused, criminalized or imprisoned, and an increasing number are displaced from their homes.

Our mission is to defend these vulnerable cartoonists, including material aid for those in emergencies. Now more than ever we can only meet their needs with your help. When you donate, you show support of our work and your commitment to human rights and free expression.

If you set up a direct debit of $50 or less today, it will be matched in the first two months by Every.org – but only while their offer lasts!
