Cartoon Crossroads Columbus Videos

From the AAEC website.

If you missed this year’s Cartoon Crossroads Columbus in October, the Festival has now posted all of the sessions on their YouTube channel.

First up was the highly informative “Taking the Pain of Out of Drawing” with former massage therapist Kriota Willberg:

“Do Awards Still Matter?” was the big panel on Friday afternoon with Lalo Alcaraz, who was snubbed for the Pulitzer in 2021 but won the Herblock in 2022, Clay Jones, a Herblock finalist who won this year’s Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award for Editorial Cartooning, Signe Wilkinson, the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize, and moderator Kevin “KAL” Kallaugher.

Friday night saw political cartoonist and TV show creator Keith Knight (the K chronicles, Woke) sit down with indie filmmaker turned graphic novelist James Spooner to discuss the pitfalls, winding roads and sometimes success of their mainstream and underground work.

Finally, the Saturday conversation — “Cartooning in a Post-Truth World” — asked “how do cartoonists do their jobs when elected officials, citizens, and even media outlets disregard facts?” Cartoonists Kevin Necessary, Marc Murphy, Tim Campbell and Ann Telnaes of the Washington Post weren’t afraid to handle the truth.
