KAL wins his 6th Overseas Press Club Award

Kevin (KAL) Kallaugher is the winner of the 2026 Overseas Press Club Award for editorial cartooning. 

This is the sixth time KAL since 1998 that KAL has won the award. KAL’s winning portfolio spans cartoons published in The Economist, The Baltimore Sun, and his Substack, KAL Draws the Line.

"His work is pointed yet funny," stated the judges, "balancing sophisticated hard-hitting satire with belly laughs, the true mark of a great editorial cartoonist."

European Cartoon Awards 2025

The European Cartoon Award has announced the winners of its 2025 contest. 

The first prize was awarded to the Dutch cartoonist Tjeerd Royaards, for his work published in the Dutch outlet Trouw

The two Runners-up are cartoonists Emad Hajjaj (Jordan) and Zehra Ömeroğlu (Turkey). 

An Honourable Mention was awarded to Patrick Chappatte (Switzerland):

The Doug Wright Awards 2025

This Saturday,  the Doug Wright Awards will be back at the historic Arts & Letters Club, 14 Elm Street, to present its 21st edition.

Doors (and the bar) open at 7 and the show starts at 8. (Get there early or end up in the overflow room.) 
The bar will remain open after the show, making it the perfect after-party for TCAF Day 1. 

This is a free event, open to everyone, whether you're involved in the comic industry or not. There are no tickets and no need to R.S.V.P. We hope to see you there.

Ann Telnaes Wins 2025 Pulitzer Prize



Ann Telnaes wins the 2025 Pulitzer Prize in Illustrated Reporting and Commentary. 

She earned the honor “for delivering piercing commentary on powerful people and institutions with deftness, creativity – and a fearlessness that led to her departure from the news organization after 17 years.”

What makes it all the more striking that she won the Pulitzer for The Washington Post — the very paper she left earlier this year in protest over editorial freedom.

25th World Press Freedom International Editorial Cartoon Competition (Results)

First Prize: Constantin Sunnerberg (Cost), Belgium

The jury, composed of five members of World Press Freedom Canada met on April 2 to select the winners of the 25th World Press Freedom International Editorial Cartoon Competition.

The theme, this year, was "It's a Trump World".

Michael de Adder wins National Newspaper Award 2024

Michael de Adder (Halifax Chronicle Herald / The Globe and Mail) is the winner in the Editorial Cartooning category at the 76th edition of the National Newspaper Awards.

Patrick LaMontagne (Calgary Herald / Calgary Sun) and Gabrielle Drolet (The Globe and Mail) were the finalists.

He managed to captivate the jury with a romantic interpretation of the theme “The Hat – Hats Off!”, bringing a smile to everyone’s face.

Marty Two Bulls, Sr. Wins the 2025 Herblock Prize

Marty Two Bulls, Sr. has been named the winner of the 2025 Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning. 

Marty Two Bulls Sr. is an Oglala Lakota originally from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. 

He has worked as a graphic designer in television, commercial printing, daily newspapers and new media. 
His work has also appeared in the newspapers like Indian Country Today (Martin, SD), Mandan Hidatsa Arikara Times (New Town, ND), Cherokee One Feather (Cherokee, NC), and News from Indian Country (Hayward, WI).

World Press Cartoon Oeiras 2025

 


The 18th edition of World Press Cartoon will take place in the autumn of 2025, once again in Portugal, now back in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, in the municipality of Oeiras.

The show continues to feature an attractive structure of 10 prizes, including a Grand Prix worth 10,000 Euros. 

We maintain the levels of rigour and quality that have made us the reference salon for graphic humour in the Press.

Lectrr wins European Cartoon Award

This year’s European Cartoon Award goes to Steven Lectrr Degryse (LECTRR) for his cartoon of Russian opposition leader and political prisoner Alexei Navalny. 

The award was presented yesterday during the European Cartoon Day ceremony presented by the European Press Prize and Studio Europa Maastricht.

The European Cartoon Award, started in 2019, is dedicated to supporting and promoting political cartoons in Europe.

At the 78th Annual NCS Reuben Awards ceremony, held in San Diego last night, Michael de Adder won the 2023 NCS Editorial Cartoon Award for his work at the Washington Post.

He was nominated along with Michael Ramirez and Reuben Bolling.

In the category of Outstanding Cartoon, the prize goes to Cathy Wilcox of the Nine Network & The Sydney Morning Herald, for her cartoon Solid Ground.

2024 Eisner Award winners

The 2024 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were presented at San Diego Comic-Con International on Friday, July 26 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. 

Hosted by Phil LaMarr and Thomas Lennon, the ceremony awarded trophies to winners across 32 categories. 

The general theme of the night seemed to be “paying it forward,” and multiple presenters and winners used stage time to compliment their peers and reflect on community.
