Kirby and Marvel Make Peace

Photo of Jack Kirby via ComicVine.
Just a few days before the Kirby v. Marvel case was scheduled to be considered by the Supreme Court, both parties settled, out of court. This was unexpected and it sure feels good to write that compensation (and, I hope, credit on the movies) is on its way to the Kirby heirs.

"The Coalition Book" by Martin Rowson

Since 2010, Martin Rowson has been documenting the highs and lows – mainly the lows – of the Tory-Lib Dem coalition week after week in The Guardian, as well as in many other publications. This book collects Rowson’s best, most brutally funny, cartoons from a period that began with a “big, open, comprehensive offer” to Nick Clegg, continued on through riots, phone-hacking, double-dip recession and endless debates on Europe, and will end (perhaps) with the general election in 2015. Accompanied by witty explanatory text, The Coalition Book takes a biting satirical look at Cameron and Clegg’s first – and perhaps last – five years in charge.

Art Spiegelman's Perspective on Gaza

From Art Spiegelman's Facebook page.

I've spent a lifetime trying to NOT think about Israel—deciding it has nothin more to do with me, a diasporist, than the rest of the World's Bad News on Parade. Israel is like some badly battered child with PTSD who has grown up to batter others.
But... here's a collage I did for last week's Nation magazine.
