From Syria Cartoon.
Predrag Koraksić Corax was probably the most famous political cartoonist in the former Yugoslavia. He was born in 1933 in the village of Gornja Gorevnica near Čačak, and lost his partisan father to the Chetniks during World War II.
He finished high school in Zemun and studied architecture in Belgrade.
In October 2004, he was awarded the French Legion of Honor, and he is the recipient of other awards, including the one called New Optimism (2017).
There is a devastating wit and sarcasm in Corax’s caricatures – recognizable figures with rusty spoons, without eyes or with pouting lips flash across his drawings, but Corax has not deprived any of them of their humanity.
One could even say that the politicians in his caricatures are more likeable, more human and more real than they are in real life.
And yet his drawings are as sharp as a scalpel.
