Award ceremony of the European Cartoon Award 2023

Join us for the award ceremony of the European Cartoon Award 2023 and the exhibition opening of the cartoons on ‘Cartoons Day’. 

This is a day dedicated to the ECA cartoonists, with panels, book presentations and the Award Ceremony of the European Cartoon Award 2023. 

It is possible to only attend the award ceremony and exhibition opening.

Afternoon programme (15:30 to 18:00)

15:30–16:45: 

The digital age of cartooning: how to regulate without refraining freedom of expression?
Speakers: Patrick Lamassoure (Cartooning for Peace), Alberto Godioli (University of Groningen), Cartoonist Zach, one of the finalists of the ECA 2023 (TBA)

17:00–18:00: 

Presentation of the book Leave us in peace by Cartooning for Peace, and Crisis by Jip van den Toorn

Evening programme (18:30 to 21:30) 

It is possible to only attend this part of the programme.

18:30–19:00: The power of editorial cartoons: a journey through historical cartoons in a modern perspective
Presented by: Cartoonist Zach

19:15–20.00: Award ceremony of the European Cartoon Award 2023: announcement of honourable mentions, runners-up and winner of the ECA 2023
Hosted by the ECA Deputy Director Emanuele Del Rosso. Guests: TBA

20:15–20:45: 

ECA 2023 exhibition opening
