Many of you have seen this cartoon circulating around the Internet. Somebody took my cartoon "Going...Going...Gone!," stripped off my caption and my name and altered it. This is in complete violation of copyright law and respect for an artist's work. In the spirit of new beginnings, I won't call whoever did this any names or what they might do with themselves. Use your imagination. This appeared on the Southern Poverty Law Center website. If they are lawyers, they're not very good ones. They certainly don't know, or care, about copyright law.

Cartoonist condemned in Iran

Iranian cartoonist Farghadani Atena, 28, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on multiple charges because of a caricature representing members of the Iranian Parliament with heads of animals. An unusually heavy sentence for a simple caricature.

The 3rd Rosemère International Biennial of Caricature will be presented from 10 AM to 5 PM on Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2015 in the HJ Hemens Library at 339 Grande-Côte.
It will include works by Garnotte, this year's honorary president, as well as works by Aislin, Beaudet, Côté, Bado, Goldstyn, Pier and Ygreck.
Also: digital caricature workshops with Patrick Gauthier, as well as conferences by Christian Vachon, curator at the McCord Museum, and Robert Aird, author and historian.
