The second prize went to Javad Takjoo (Iran) and third place to Luka Lagator from Montenegro.
Alessandro Gatto (Italy) received the prize for the best entry from the European Union for the second time in a row and the best Belgian entry came from Stefaan Provijn.
The international jury, headed by Marilena Nardi, selected Sorjani's work from 1776 cartoons from 543 cartoonists from 83 different countries. For the first time there were participants from Guatemala, Zambia, Tunesia and Myanmar.
Most entries came from Iran, Turkey, Belgium and also from Italy.
Exhibition
130 works were selected for the exhibition that will be on display till the 18th of June in the European Cartoon Center.
After this show a smaller selection of 60 cartoons will travel to different places and will be exhibited till the end of 2023.

During the Euro-kartoenale Kruishoutem exhibition there is also a focus on Egyptian cartoonists, this exhibition is curated by Fayoum Art Center and Egypt Cartoon.
